The National Contact Point in Poland (NCP-PL) has been established in 1999 by the decision of the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN), as a result of an open call for tenders. In April 2002, by the decision of KBN, responsibility of the NCP has been extended to the Sixth Framework Programme. The main task is to disseminate the information about European Union research programmes and to help Polish research teams in active participation in EU Framework Programmes, through training, aid and consultancy, partner search service as well as promoting the international cooperation and encouraging to create multi-partner project consortia. Moreover, the National Contact Point is a training centre for implementation of structural funds in the R&D sector.
